Good facilites are essential for a quicker, safer and less stressful ultrasound session. Along with accurate identification of cows, breeding records are great but not essential.

Pregnancy testing cows is essential in management practices-

• Culling empty cows- Knowing how many empty cows you have allows you to calculate how many other cows you can afford to cull

• Formulating feed budget- allowing you to have an accurate assessment of the herds furture feed requirements compared to feed availability. An accurate predicted calving pattern is required for the calculation of a feed budget

• Benchmark your results- Allows for accurate understanding of your herds reproductive performacnce compared to other years. You can't essentially compare your empty rate to others farms, as youre breeding plans may be different, but by comparing your empty rates to previous years you can better understand if you vave an underlying fertility issues within your herd.
