The Yarram Herd Services Board is responsible for the overall governance of the Centre and is made up of volunteers who bring a wide range of skills to the table.
Of significant note was a change of management of the organisation with Charlotte Jaensch being the successful applicant after the position of Operations Manager was vacated by John De Win. Charlotte was appointed after the position was advertised both internally and externally. Her extensive knowledge of the centre, coupled with an enthusiasm for seeing ongoing growth made her the appropriate candidate.
Another significant change to the staff at the centre was the retirement of Mrs Kerrie Foat. Kerrie’s contribution cannot be glossed over and we thank her for her tireless commitment to carrying out her role over a long period of time and we wish her well in her retirement.
2021 also saw us celebrate the Official Opening of the newly rebuilt Herd Services Centre. We welcomed back former employee, Cliff Scammell who enlightened us about the history of the Herd Test Centre and the building was officially opened by Wellington Shire Mayor, Mr Gary Stephens. The laboratory was named the Mavis Wilson Laboratory (in honour of her long term role as manager of the Herd Test Centre) and the office building was named the Cliff Scammell Building.
An AGM often marks changes to the Board and as such I wish to thank Albert Greenaway as he steps down after almost 40 years as a member of the Board. The past 40 years have seen many changes and yet Albert continues to show enthusiasm for the implementation of best practice and new technologies in order for the Centre to work more efficiently.
I also want to thank Aaron Thomas for his period of service as the Deputy Chair and for his support of me in my role and for always being willing to provide insight. Aaron will remain on the board as a director.
I wish to say a sincere thank you to the Yarram Herd Services Staff under the leadership of Charlotte and thank them for their continued professionalism through another challenging year affected by the Covid pandemic.
In conclusion, as this is my final meeting as a director of the Herd Services Board I wish to thank my fellow Board members and our many clients for their tireless commitment to the ongoing growth of YHS. We are dedicated to ensuring that our good governance results in the continued development and improvement of Yarram Herd Services. I wish all involved all the very best for the future.
